The Machine Operator will ensure the consistent production of machined pieces of lumber through setup maintaining and operating of a CNC machine and highspeed routers. The Machine Operator will pay close attention to detail focus on the tasks at hand ensure accuracy of the machined pieces as well as the correct pieces machined for the order while maintaining quality and safety. This position requires someone who is detail oriented but has a sense of urgency in keeping pace with a fastpaced production environment while adhering to all safety requirements. The Machine Operator will ensure production procedures are carried out smoothly and will maximize efficiencies at all times.
Ability to distinguish colors to ensure correct components are selected for the machining process
Pull lumber from the racking system by placing it onto carts and push it to their workstation
Set up the CNC machine to begin production load the lumber onto the CNC machine
Using the computer screen on the CNC select the predefined program for the item to be produced
Check output for machine related flaws or errors
Shape pieces of machined lumber using a highspeed router insuring strict guidelines to guarding and safety requirement
Load carts with finished machined pieces of material in preparation of assembly
Understanding the different types of products for proper selection in operation of the CNC machine
Pay attention to the customer order to ensure items made with multiple lumber colors are machined properly
Trouble shooting as required
Maintain a clean and safe workstation includes fluff and debris cleanup
Ability to maintain equipment and tools in proper working condition
Ability to understand and utilize a computer screen for proper selection of CNC operations
Ability to assist coworkers when necessary
Ability to work at multiple workstations within the process such as table/band saws
Ability to meet production and quality standard requirements
Ability to spot check output to ensure high quality standards of machined pieces
Ability to work safely following all safety rules and regulations
Requirements :
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read and communicate in English to follow and understand work instructions
Ability to use simple math using addition subtraction division multiplication and understanding percentages and fractions.
Must be able to read a ruler and/or tape measure
Great attention to detail
Sense of urgency to meet production standards
Ability to strictly adhere to all safety standards
Ability to troubleshoot equipment when necessary
Prior work experience using CNC machines routers band and table saws is preferred
Ability to recognize and point out defects
Ability to use a broom and shovel for fluff cleanup
Ability to use an air hose when required
Good Attendance
Ability to work independently as well as with others
Ability to work 10hour shifts and overtime as required
Reliable transportation to arrive at work on a daily basis
Environment and Physical Demands
Standing and walking on production floors which are concrete for 10hour shifts. (rubber matting is provided at work stations)
Ability to read hear speak and use a computer to reason and problem solve
Requires basic math skills
Ability to distinguish colors
Normal hearing and range of vision
Ability to learn more than one process in the machining of the finished product
Requires standing walking bending reaching stooping twisting bending pushing pulling frequently though out the work shift
Requires the safe and effective use of a router in close contact to fingers
Required to frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
May not have allergies to plastic/poly and/or cardboard
Ability to work in hot/cool work environment
Ability to work in a noisy work environment
Floors may become slippery from fluff that is a biproduct of the production process
