The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager based in Chicago to lead the implementation of Level 2 and Level 3 EV charging infrastructure projects. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of charging station deployment from initial site selection through final commissioning. This role requires close collaboration with real estate teams utility companies contractors and local authorities to ensure successful project delivery.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent project management skills to drive the expansion of our charging network while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Direct the endtoend implementation of EV charging station projects including site assessment design permitting and construction
- Collaborate with real estate teams on site visits to evaluate locations and provide technical input for site selection
- Develop concept designs and comprehensive site plans for new charging locations
- Manage utility coordination including design review easements and service agreements
- Lead due diligence processes including permitting utilities and ALTA surveys
- Create and maintain project budgets and schedules
- Review and approve technical drawings from internal teams and external contractors
- Coordinate with municipal authorities for permits and zoning approvals
- Develop RFP documents and manage contractor selection process
- Oversee construction activities and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Manage vendor relationships and contractor performance
- Ensure smooth transition from construction to commissioning
- Resolve technical challenges and coordinate with engineering teams
- Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and contractors
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Architecture or Construction Management preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum 45 years of experience managing construction projects of similar scope and complexity
- 2 years of experience with Level 2 & Level 3 EV charging infrastructure
- Professional Engineering license desired but not required
- Strong knowledge of construction practices and building codes
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and utility infrastructure
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Analytical and problemsolving skills
- Proficiency in project management software and CAD review
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel up to 50% within the region
