Role Overview
The Venture Associate at Mobius Ventures will play a pivotal role in driving the firms earlystage investment strategy. This position blends analytical rigor with strategic thinking and relationship management to identify highpotential startups and contribute to their growth trajectory. The ideal candidate will not only excel at dissecting markets and evaluating investment opportunities but also thrive in building lasting connections within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. This role is essential to Mobius Ventures mission of supporting visionary founders and fostering innovation.
1. Market Analysis & Opportunity Identification
- Conduct indepth market research to uncover emerging industries trends and disruptive technologies.
- Monitor competitive landscapes to spot white spaces where innovative startups can thrive.
- Develop and maintain a robust understanding of market dynamics across targeted verticals.
2. Due Diligence & Investment Evaluation
- Perform rigorous due diligence on prospective startups including financial statement analysis business model assessments and market feasibility studies.
- Evaluate the scalability competitive positioning and team strength of investment candidates.
- Collaborate with internal teams to assess potential risks and synergies within the portfolio.
3. Deal Execution & Portfolio Support
- Assist in deal structuring including term sheet preparation and negotiation.
- Work closely with founders to provide strategic advice postinvestment helping them achieve key milestones.
- Monitor portfolio performance and generate insights to guide future investment decisions.
4. Presentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed investment memos and present findings to the investment committee.
- Develop and deliver datadriven reports on market trends deal flow and portfolio performance.
5. Ecosystem Engagement & Networking
- Build and maintain relationships with founders venture networks and accelerators.
- Actively participate in industry events pitch competitions and networking functions to represent Mobius Ventures.
- Act as a brand ambassador staying engaged with the latest developments in startup ecosystems.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in business finance economics or a related field; advanced degrees (MBA CFA) are highly desirable.
Professional Experience:
- 25 years of relevant experience in venture capital private equity management consulting or startup environments.
- Handson experience in evaluating and working with earlystage companies is a significant advantage.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong grasp of venture capital dynamics startup lifecycle and emerging tech trends.
- Proficiency in financial modeling valuation techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for crafting compelling investment theses and presentations.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for building trust with founders and industry stakeholders.
