Roles and responsibilities
Customer Assistance and Sales Support:
- Customer Engagement: Greet customers as they enter the store and offer assistance in finding the furniture that best meets their needs, style preferences, and budget.
- Product Knowledge and Recommendations: Provide detailed information about the features, benefits, and materials of different furniture items. Recommend appropriate furniture based on the customer's lifestyle (e.g., small space living, family needs, etc.).
- Style and Design Guidance: Help customers visualize how different furniture pieces will look in their home by suggesting color schemes, materials, layouts, and designs that complement their existing decor.
- Upselling and Cross-selling: Suggest complementary items, such as cushions, rugs, lamps, or storage solutions, to increase the overall sales value. Promote high-margin products, special deals, or new arrivals.
- Sales Presentation: Effectively demonstrate the use and functionality of furniture, explaining how features (e.g., recliners, adjustable beds, modular sofas) benefit the customer.
2. Sales Achievement and Target Management:
- Meeting Sales Goals: Work towards achieving individual and team sales targets, ensuring that each transaction meets or exceeds store sales objectives.
- Sales Tracking: Record customer interactions and sales transactions accurately using the store’s point-of-sale (POS) system. Keep track of daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance.
- Customer Follow-ups: Follow up with customers who have shown interest in specific items but haven’t made a purchase, offering promotions, price reductions, or answering any outstanding questions they might have.
- Handling Special Orders: Manage custom orders for furniture that isn’t in stock, ensuring customer preferences (e.g., size, color, fabric) are clearly communicated to suppliers and manufacturers.
3. Product and Inventory Knowledge:
- Stay Informed on Product Lines: Continuously update yourself on the features, benefits, and specifications of furniture products (e.g., sofa materials, bed frame construction, ergonomic features of office chairs, etc.).
- Product Demonstration: Set up or demonstrate furniture items to show their features, like reclining mechanisms, adjustable heights, or modular designs. This can also include demonstrating how to assemble or disassemble furniture if required.
- Store Merchandising: Help ensure that the store is neatly arranged and furniture is displayed in an appealing and accessible manner. This includes creating attractive displays to highlight new collections or promotional items.
- Monitor Inventory: Assist with stock management by alerting management to low inventory or backordered products. Help with the receiving, stocking, and organizing of new furniture shipments when necessary.
