Roles and responsibilities
1. Supervising Cashier Team:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and guide a team of cashiers, ensuring they understand their duties and perform their tasks efficiently.
- Staff Training and Development: Train new cashiers on company policies, cash handling procedures, and customer service standards. Conduct ongoing training for existing cashiers to keep them updated on best practices.
- Shift Scheduling: Create and manage cashier work schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and that breaks and shifts are coordinated.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the cashier team, including observing their interactions with customers, accuracy in processing transactions, and adherence to company policies.
- Provide Feedback and Coaching: Offer feedback, guidance, and coaching to cashiers to improve performance, addressing issues such as accuracy, customer service, or workflow inefficiencies.
2. Cash Handling and Accuracy:
- Cash Management: Ensure that cashiers are accurately handling cash, checks, and other forms of payment. Monitor cash drawers to ensure that they are balanced and correct.
- Oversee Transactions: Ensure that all transactions (sales, refunds, exchanges) are processed accurately and in accordance with company policies.
- Reconciliation: Perform or supervise daily reconciliation of cash registers, ensuring all cash, credit, and debit transactions are properly accounted for at the end of each shift.
- Security: Ensure that cash handling procedures are followed to prevent theft, fraud, and discrepancies. Conduct random checks and audits on cash drawers.
3. Customer Service and Satisfaction:
- Maintain High Customer Service Standards: Ensure cashiers provide excellent customer service, assisting customers promptly, resolving issues, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Resolve Customer Complaints: Handle escalated customer complaints or concerns regarding pricing, billing errors, or other transaction-related issues. Ensure that customers are satisfied with the resolution.
- Promote Customer Loyalty: Encourage cashiers to engage customers in a friendly, helpful manner and promote loyalty programs, store promotions, or additional services.
