Education:
Ph.D. in an engineering discipline and 10 years of relevant technical experience.
Masters Degree in an engineering discipline and 15 years of relevant technical experience.
Basic Job Functions:
Leads development efforts to improve cell efficiency by enabling new/modified/improved processes and new/modified/improved functional materials. Works on continuous improvement of thin film deposition processes in a highvolume manufacturing setting.
Establishes laboratory processes and refines processes to demonstrate improved characteristics on a statistical basis. Develops new metrologies to characterize thin film and glass properties.
Essential Skills/Competencies:
- Indepth knowledge of the material science of compound semiconductors and the techniques used for thinfilm deposition such as chemical and physical vapor deposition.
- Extensive understanding of various material characterization methods with proven experience in utilizing a wide range of characterization results.
- Ability to collaborate with manage and lead crossfunctional teams with diverse technical expertise towards achieving shared objectives.
- Significant experience in structured problemsolving using both datadriven (empirical) and modelbased (first principles/scientific) approaches.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information at all levels within and across organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives to enhance cell efficiency by identifying areas for improvement and investigating new methods and materials for thinfilm devices.
- Design conduct and analyze engineering tests. Perform data analysis and manage necessary followup including result interpretation.
- Maximize tool capabilities by implementing modifications or collaborating with tool owners to coordinate necessary tool adjustments.
- Identify critical process characteristics through a strong understanding of material science and process technology.
- Present engineering test results clearly and concisely to senior management development/manufacturing engineers and production teams.
- Collaborate effectively with development manufacturing and production staff to conduct engineering tests on the production line.
- Ensure compliance with safety environmental procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Perform other tasks as required.
