Role: Sr. Mainframe Engineer
Location: Tampa FL / Arlington VA (Hybrid)
Duration : Full Time
Job Description:
- Thought Leadership with extensive knowledge in legacy modernization techniques related tools and approaches.
- Understanding of z/OS AS400 platforms and categorize workloads for migration
- Experience leading customers with mainframe and legacy modernization initiatives.
- General knowledge on assessment techniques to derive the modernization solution for legacy customers
- Hands on experience with CAST highlight and CAST imaging software
- Experience in extracting business rules from mainframe programming languages like COBOL PL1 Natural etc.
- Knowledge on Micofocus and Heirloom products used for discovery migration/modernization
- Designing AWS or Azure or GCP or Openshift architectures which meet or exceed the requirements of workloads coming from mainframe and legacy infrastructures.
- Architecting developing and modernizing customer applications/systems to be cloud or onpremise platform ready
- Working as a technical leader alongside customer business development and infrastructure teams.
- Agile software development and DevOps.
- Implementing DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code continuous integration and automated deployment.
- 10 years of handson technical experience with mainframe nonx86 legacy systems and with technologies such as COBOL JCL CICS DB2 for z/OS Assembler PL/I Java Rexx flat/sequential files GDGs and VSAM.
- 10 years of experience designing architectures for enterprise systems.
- 5 years of experience in a technical lead role migrating workloads from mainframe and nonx86 legacy systems to distributed x86 infrastructures onpremises or in the Cloud;
- 5 years of experience integrating mainframe and nonx86 legacy systems with distributed Linuxbased or Windowsbased x86 servers.
- Experience with tools and methodologies used to migrate mainframe workloads via replatforming or rewrite
- Experience with analyzing onprem mainframe applications and data stores to formulate plans for modernizing workloads that achieve customers desired business outcomes.
- Current handson implementation experience.
- Experience with zD&T Microfocus and data conversion tools.
- Experience with COBOL modernization and porting application code across platforms.
- Experience with proprietary legacy data store migration to relational databases.
- Experience with legacy systems data replication or messaging.
- Knowledge on designing Mongo DB Bigframe or any datalake solutions is an added advantage.
