Malander is seeking an astute Chartered Accountant to hold the position of a Financial Controller for a client based in London. The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organisation ensuring accurate financial reporting effective financial controls and compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves leading the finance team managing financial risks and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis: - Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements including income statements balance sheets cash flow statements and management accounts;
- Oversee monthend and yearend closing processes ensuring adherence to deadlines and accuracy;
- Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to senior management for decisionmaking purposes;
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: - Lead the annual budgeting process working closely with department heads to set realistic goals;
- Monitor and analyse budget variances providing explanations and recommendations for corrective actions;
- Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to predict future financial performance.
Internal Controls and Compliance: - Design implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulatory and legal requirements;
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to facilitate audit processes.
Cash Flow and Treasury Management: - Manage the company's cash flow ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs;
- Optimise working capital and manage relationships with banks and financial institutions;
- Oversee the management of debt facilities ensuring compliance with covenants and optimising interest costs.
Team Leadership and Development: - Lead mentor and develop the finance team promoting a culture of high performance;
- Conduct regular performance reviews.
Strategic Financial Planning: - Support the CFO and senior management in strategic planning initiatives providing financial insights and analysis;
- Identify and evaluate financial risks and opportunities proposing strategies to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities;
- Participate in business development activities.
System and Process Improvement: - Identify opportunities for automation and improvement of financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy;
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems ensuring data integrity and reliability;
- Lead or support finance related projects and initiatives aimed at improving organisational performance.
Qualifications and Experience: - CA(SA) or ACCA designation is essential;
- Minimum of 5 years post articles experience in a financial management or similar role with proven experience in a Financial Controller Capacity;
- IFRS and ERP systems experience;
- MS Excel.
