Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Traffic Manager to join our growing team. This individual will play a key role in managing inbound and outbound logistics ensuring optimal transportation solutions and meeting delivery needs for our distribution centers and vendors. The ideal candidate will be a selfstarter detailoriented deadlinedriven and have a proven track record in transportation logistics and trade compliance.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Logistics Planning & Strategy: Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize freight logistics and inventory across the supply chain managing various transportation modes including TL/LTL expedited services air package international freight and forwarding services.
- 3PL Management: Oversee and manage 3PL service providers to ensure efficient freight operations and system optimization.
- Carrier Selection & Negotiation: Lead the evaluation selection and negotiation of freight and logistics suppliers to maximize costeffectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Carrier Performance Reviews: Develop and implement carrier performance reviews to assess service levels and ensure compliance with agreedupon service standards.
- Cost Analysis & Reporting: Analyze freight and logistics costs providing costeffective recommendations and supporting division strategy. Ensure monthly reporting on logistics activity and freight spend including invoice approval and audit.
- Customs & Trade Compliance: Ensure compliance with all trade regulations including customs documentation harmonized tariff schedules import VAT rules and other international shipping regulations. Manage customs clearance for shipments between the U.S. and Mexico and the U.S. and China.
- TMS Implementation & Management: Assist in the implementation and management of the Transportation Management System (TMS) to streamline logistics operations.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work crossfunctionally with purchasing vendors freight forwarders customs brokers government agencies and other functional areas to ensure smooth logistics operations and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in transportation and logistics with a background in managing inbound and outbound freight 3PL providers and trade compliance.
- Trade Compliance Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of trade compliance including tariff classification harmonized tariff schedules and other customs regulations.
- Bilingual: Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
- PC Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and other PCbased applications. Experience with ERP systems such as Netsuite is a plus.
- DataEntry & Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail good math skills and ability to analyze and report data effectively.
- Negotiation Skills: Experience in negotiating with carriers such as CH Robinson FedEx and UPS for freight and logistics contracts.
- Longevity in Previous Roles: Must have at least 4 years of longevity in the most recent role.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to handle freight and international shipments between U.S./Mexico and Mexico/China including managing LTL and Drop Ship operations.
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and international trade frameworks.
