Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Delivers high quality private and group fitness instruction that consistently meets and exceeds the member and guest expectations.
  • Handle all member and guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible; resolve customer complaints, assist customers in all inquiries in connection with club and resort services.
  • Ability to develop and execute training plans that consistently meets and exceeds the member and guest health and wellness goals.
  • Provide personal trainer shift coverage as scheduled by the Director of Sports to satisfy member and guest demand and to maximize revenue.
  • Assist in the continuing effort to maintain the high quality of physical fitness facility by cleaning fitness equipment as scheduled by the Fitness Manager.
  • Complete all fitness instruction billing in accordance with Four Seasons accounting procedures and fitness department processes. Actively promote personal training and fitness activities through frequent member and guest interaction.
  • Comply with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in Empact.
  • Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Conducting Fitness Classes and Personal Training

  • Group Classes: Lead fitness classes, such as aerobics, Zumba, yoga, cycling, or strength training, ensuring that all participants are engaged and performing exercises correctly.
  • One-on-One Training: Work with individuals to provide personalized fitness training plans, focusing on their specific goals (e.g., weight loss, muscle building, improving cardiovascular health).
  • Demonstrating Exercises: Show participants how to perform exercises safely and effectively. This includes correct posture, breathing techniques, and the use of equipment.
  • 2. Creating Tailored Fitness Programs

  • Assessing Client Needs: Evaluate clients’ fitness levels, goals, and any medical concerns or limitations (such as injuries or chronic conditions) to create a customized training plan.
  • Designing Workouts: Develop a variety of workout routines that suit individual or group fitness needs, including strength training, flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular exercises.
  • Tracking Progress: Monitor and assess clients' progress regularly and adjust their training plans as needed to keep them on track and motivated.

Desired candidate profile

  • Strong Knowledge of Fitness: Understanding exercise physiology, anatomy, kinesiology, and nutrition (at least at a basic level) is essential to design effective and safe programs.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, whether giving instructions in a group class or explaining a workout routine to an individual client.
  • Motivational Skills: Ability to inspire and encourage clients, especially when they may be struggling with their fitness goals.
  • Patience and Empathy: Being patient with clients and understanding their struggles, whether physical, mental, or emotional, to offer the support they need to succeed.
  • Leadership: Fitness instructors must be confident in leading groups and managing multiple clients or participants, ensuring everyone feels supported.
  • Physical Fitness: Fitness instructors should be in good physical shape themselves, demonstrating exercises and maintaining the energy levels needed to lead classes.
  • Adaptability: Being able to adapt exercises or classes to meet the needs of clients with different fitness levels or limitations.
  • Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to clients' form and technique to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Professionalism: Punctuality, appearance, and a positive attitude are key for creating a professional environment.
