Oversee and enhance the college’s academic programs to meet the evolving needs of students and Qatar society.
Promote and support innovative research initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration across HBKU and within Qatar Foundation's Education City.
Recruit, support, and retain a diverse and high-caliber faculty.
Cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., alums, government bodies, collaborating institutions, and industry partners).
1. Academic Leadership:
Curriculum Development:
Oversee the development and implementation of academic programs in the humanities and social sciences. This includes ensuring the curriculum reflects current trends and meets accreditation standards.
Program Evaluation and Improvement:
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs and initiatives. Ensure that teaching, research, and service activities are aligned with the college’s mission and vision.
Faculty Recruitment and Development:
Lead the recruitment and hiring of faculty and academic staff. Foster a culture of professional development, mentorship, and continuous improvement for faculty members.
Academic Advising:
Ensure the establishment of strong academic advising systems for students, helping them navigate their academic and career paths.
2. Strategic Planning and Vision:
Vision and Strategic Direction:
Work with faculty, students, and university leadership to define and implement a long-term strategic vision for the college. This includes setting academic and operational goals that reflect the values and aspirations of the college.
Innovation in Teaching and Research:
Encourage innovation in pedagogy and research. Support initiatives that enhance teaching quality, incorporate new technologies, and promote interdisciplinary approaches.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
Promote a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment for students, faculty, and staff. Ensure that the college fosters an environment where all voices are valued, and diversity is celebrated.
Effective Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with faculty, students, alumni, university leadership, and external stakeholders.
Conflict Resolution:
Ability to address and resolve conflicts that may arise between faculty, students, or staff in a fair, ethical, and transparent manner.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, students, administration, donors, and external organizations, and build strong partnerships for the college.
