Job Description

100% subsidiary of EKIUMSOFRESID ENGINEERING (300 people) is a subsidiary of the French engineering consulting group Ekium (2500 people) active in the Naval Marine and Energy sectors. With a local presence we support our clients in the development of their industrial and energy transition projects from conceptual studies to detailed engineering and construction site supervision. With a 15 year track record in renewable energy we also develop innovative solutions and methodologies aimed at environmental impact reduction of industrial installations (decarbonization energy storage). More specifically we are a recognized expert player in offshore wind foundation engineering (fixedbottom and floating).


Mission

In the context of our offshore wind projects with the aim of optimizing our design and verification process we are searching for a candidate who will help us refine our simulation and numerical modelling methodologies.

More specifically you will join our offshore wind Load Analysis (coupled aerohydroservoelastic simulations) team. Under the supervision of a specialist engineer you will:

  • Perform and/or analyze floating wind turbine integrated load analysis batches consisting of timedomain simulations.
  • Research improvement pathways concerning the pre and posttreatment of such simulations: how does one manage and analyze designdriving situations in the most effective way
  • Implement the identified methodologies in the form of Python scripts subjected to professional code management practices with the help of the GitLab platform.
  • Implement user procedures helping with floating wind systems design.

The internship will be based in France: Lorient (preference) Brest or Nantes


    Profil

    Masterlevel student in naval architecture marine or ocean engineering (Centrale Nantes Centrale Marseille ENSTA Paris ENSTA Bretagne Seatech TU Delft NTNU Uni Exeter Strathclyde Southampton ) you are searching for an industrial internship.

    The candidate we look for is rigorous methodic curious and possessing strong analytical skills and initiative. With an appetite for complex topics and a will to work in a dynamic environment characterized by communication mutual help and support.

    Required competencies:

    • Sea keeping / marine hydrodynamics / mechanics
    • Python coding

    Acquaintance with software tools of the following types:

    • Marine dynamic analysis (OrcaFlex DeepLines Diodore WAMIT NEMOH etc.)
    • Wind turbine simulation (OpenFAST Bladed etc.)

    Technical English oral and written.

    Possibility of punctual commutes to Nantes Brest or Lorient as a function of the final internship location.
