Job Description

Job Title: PLC Programmer (Quality Manufacturing IT)
Location: Boyertown PA (Hybrid 3 days onsite 2 days remote)

Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced PLC Programmer to support our Quality Manufacturing IT team. This role will focus on designing programming testing and maintaining PLC systems within our plastics manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with engineers and technicians to optimize manufacturing operations and ensure efficient reliable system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development: Develop PLC programs to support project requirements and specifications in plastics manufacturing.
  • Control System Design: Design and implement automated control systems for machinery and processes specific to the plastics industry.
  • Troubleshooting: Configure and troubleshoot PLC hardware and software components focusing on production line efficiency.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct tests and debug PLC programs to ensure robust functionality within the manufacturing environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with crossfunctional teams to integrate PLC systems with other control systems and equipment.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to production and maintenance teams working on plastics processing equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of PLC programs configurations and modifications to support plastics manufacturing operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices focusing on innovations in PLC programming and automation.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in PLC programming ideally within plastics manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g. ladder logic structured text function block diagram)
    • Strong understanding of industrial automation for plastics production including the ability to read technical schematics and wiring diagrams
    • Experience with AllenBradley Siemens or Schneider Electric PLC hardware and software platforms
    • Knowledge of OPC UA and Codesys for machinetomachine communication and data exchange
    • Proficiency in Python (highly preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Modbus HMI SCADA Raspberry Pi and IQMS/Delmia ERP
  • Knowledge of Raspberry Pi for automation applications
  • Experience managing projects independently with strong problemsolving skills
  • Familiarity with machinetomachine communication protocols for cloud data exchange
