Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the international Customs and Trade Tariffs regime, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance and optimization of global trade operations for PST.AG clients. Your responsibilities will include sourcing, collecting, and processing real-time updates on Customs and Trade Tariffs from around the world, enabling clients to navigate and comply with international trade laws effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research and Monitoring: You will be responsible for staying up to date on international Customs Tariffs and Duty Rates that impact our clients’ ability to conduct business internationally. This includes monitoring daily updates from regulatory bodies, trade agreements, and global economic events that may influence customs regulations. You will ensure that our tariff database remains accurate and compliant with all international requirements.

  2. Harmonized System Codes and Data Processing: An understanding of the World Customs Organization's Harmonized System (HS) codes is essential. You will ensure that all tariff data is categorized and processed according to these globally recognized codes. Additionally, you will work within precise data formats and follow stringent data processing procedures to ensure compliance with international trade regulations.

  3. Workflow Optimization and Documentation: You will oversee the technical workflow related to customs tariff data. This includes identifying inefficiencies, troubleshooting workflow issues, and implementing solutions to ensure that workflows are streamlined and accurate. You will be responsible for documenting all processes clearly, ensuring that workflows are easily understood by all relevant team members and stakeholders.

  4. Cross-department Coordination: Effective communication with various internal departments such as technical administrators, developers, data entry specialists, coaches, and management will be essential. You will collaborate with these teams to address issues like faulty workflows, missing or poor-quality data, and other operational challenges.

  5. Customer Support and Troubleshooting: You will assist customers in troubleshooting issues related to customs tariffs, helping them resolve problems quickly. This includes identifying incomplete or faulty data, liaising with authorities when necessary, and working on solutions to prevent future occurrences of similar issues.


Desired candidate profile

Key Requirements:

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in international trade, customs law, or a related field.
  • Proven Experience: Extensive experience in the field of Customs Tariffs, with a strong understanding of international trade regulations.
  • Technical Communication: Exceptional ability to translate technical and legal processes into clear communication for diverse audiences, both written and verbal.
  • Project Management and Coordination: Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of coordinating cross-functional teams and tasks.
  • Analytical Skills: Expertise in data organization, reasoning, and logical analysis to ensure compliance and optimization.

This role demands a combination of legal knowledge, technical expertise, and strong communication skills to support the seamless flow of global trade for PST.AG's clients.
