Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Create effective user friendly and visually appealing interfaces
  • Design the overall functionality of the product in order to ensure a great user experience iterate upon it in accordance with usertesting.
  • Design user interfaces for various projects such as digital displays publications media and other creative materials as required.
  • Take a usercentered design approach and rapidly test and iterate the designs.
  • Conceive and conduct user research interviews and surveys and translating them into sitemaps user flows customer journey maps wireframes mockups and prototypes


General Skills:

  • Relevant experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance
  • Experience as a UX designer interactive designer UI designer or similar role designing for web and mobile applications
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools Thorough understanding of the limitations and appropriate use of web development technologies
  • Experience in designing online programs with emphasis in the emotional aspects of human experience
  • Experience conceiving and conducting user research interviews and surveys and translating them into sitemaps user flows user journey maps wireframes mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences
  • Experience designing the overall functionality of the product and in order to ensure a great user experience iterate upon it in accordance with usertesting
  • Experience designing and delivering wireframes user stories user flows user journeys mockups and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
  • Experience facilitating the client s product vision by researching conceiving sketching prototyping and usertesting experiences for digital products and optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
  • Experience identifying design problems and devising elegant solutions
  • Experience making strategic design and userexperience decisions related to core and new functions and features
  • Experience gathering user feedback to configure existing interfaces
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines managing competing priorities and client relationship management experience


Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of network security and network protocols

  • Experience with developing content strategy inclusive writing and usercentred design for highquality digital experiences
  • Experience communicating complex information in a way that is clear and easy to understand for technical and nontechnical team members and end users
  • Experience with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) journey mapping user stories information architecture content auditing and evaluation wireframing prototyping persona development user research and content testing
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in UX and content design to advise on strategy and lead the design and ongoing renewal of the government s web content and digital services


Skill Set Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with developing content strategy inclusive writing and usercentred design for highquality digital experiences
  • Experience using evidence data and research to support content design
  • Experience communicating complex information in a way that is clear and easy to understand for technical and nontechnical team members and end users
  • Knowledge of government policies standards and legislation relating to digital service delivery (Digital Service Standard Simpler Faster Better Services Act)
  • Experience with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) journey mapping user stories information architecture content auditing and evaluation wireframing prototyping persona development user research and content testing
  • Strong knowledge and experience with current web trends (e.g. analytics and design) French Language and accessibility standards (FLSA (French Language Services Act) AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act ) / WCAG 2.0 AA)
  • Experience delivering digital products and services
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with agile product development tools and techniques (Miro Figma Jamboard Mural etc.) to build prototypes and usercentred digital products
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in UX and content design to advise on strategy and lead the design and ongoing renewal of the government s web content and digital services

  • Experience in migrating sites among various technology platforms
  • Ability to communicate visually as well as in verbal and written formats.
  • Relationship building skills to liaise with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Content Management
  • Detailed knowledge of the Government of Ontario web standards governance and legislative framework
  • Experience to edit content
  • Experience in converting variable source document formats into accessible content
