Senior Project Manager
About The Job
The Senior Project Manager position supports PGCs vision goals and values by providing technical and process oversight to two or more Project Management (PM) teams and championing the PGC Quality Management System (QMS) so customers and employees are satisfied that all our projects are on time in budget and right the first time.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in developing and managing PM teams (projects range from 17 M with 20M in projects total) to plan and execute their projects effectively and efficiently while communicating with the customer the progress and issues that occur. Requires commitment to PGC goals and processes leadership in displaying PGC values and advanced knowledge of glazing systems. Participate in PGC process for training and evaluating PGC employees.
Glazing Industry:
- Develop and strengthen relationships with vendors contractors to improve working relationships and promote the PGC vision
Planning:
- Support PM Departments in planning events prior to job start such as participating in: jumpstart/turnover shop drawing review execution plan meeting shop kickoff and field kickoff
- Conducts risk management to identify and reduce risks that impact project quality schedule and safety (customer tendencies design issues PM skill level etc.)
- Review Contractors Project Schedule and create PM Team todo list and set task due dates
- Review Submittal Logs and Procurement Logs for accuracy and continue to monitor as project progresses
Project Execution:
Customer Interaction: Meet regularly with key customers to:
- Identify needs and priorities of customer
- Seek feedback on PGC performance
- Immediately seek to resolve any issues that have arisen
Management Coordination:
- Be the liaison between PM/Shop/Field/Warehouse/Purchasing departments
- Increase the understanding of Accounting Purchasing D&E Shop & Field needs from the PMs
- Promote a positive cando attitude and team spirit throughout all departments
Shop Drawing Process:
- Assist in shop drawing review to confirm all scope was picked up and detailing is correct
- Follow up with System Specialist to confirm shop drawings are released on time and in budget
Supervision:
- Develop rapport with customer and act as the liaison between the project management teams and the general contractor when needed
- Ensure processes are followed within your PM teams and provide double check as required for processes including: budget vs actual reports monitor sheets work orders PO requests billings/projections change orders QC reports submittal logs and procurement logs
Quality Management System:
- Champion the PGC Quality Management System (Plan Do Check Adjust)
- Promote Lean principles and lead by example
- Ensure that PM teams are:
- Performing all work to meet customer expectations
- Positively engaging the CAPA process to report and resolve quality issues
Employee Development:
- Provide annual objectives for all direct reports and hold monthly onetoone KPI meetings to provide accountability (and require them to do the same with their direct reports)
- Participate in annual objectives with Project Management Director and monthly onetoone KPI Meetings
- Assist the Project Management Director in hiring performance reviews and training programs for PM Teams
- Responsible for success of PM Teams which requires supporting PM Teams with daily tasks such as metal takeoffs glass takeoffs PO requests change orders submittals RFIs etc.
Essential Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of aluminum storefronts aluminum curtainwall and various glass and door systems and general knowledge of the process to fabricate and install them
- Exemplifies leadership qualities/abilities (preferred leadership experience) such as minimum of 810 years as a Project Manager in an exterior/interior glazing environment
- Essential management (office) skills: typing computer literacy knowledge of Excel and Google Docs and able to navigate the internet
- Outstanding professional and customer oriented oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in reading blueprints
- AutoCAD fluency is recommended but not required
