Job Description

Our client a Michiganbased automotive company delivering operational excellence highquality execution and customer service is seeking a Controls Engineer.
Responsibilities:
  • To maintain or improve upon all hardware required for control systems located on facility floor.
  • Read electrical pneumatic and hydraulic prints.
  • Complete design of electrical control systems including creation of electrical schematics using AutoCAD for new and retrofit press and manufacturing equipment.
  • Understand support and program complete PLC and HMI programs located in equipment on the facility floor.
  • Understand and support motor drive configuration for servo variable frequency and DC systems.
  • Understand and support robotic programming located in equipment on the facility floor. (FANUC Material Handling).
  • Assist engineers in specifying ancillary robotic welding equipment including weld guns torches cabling dress out tool changers tip dressers and torch cleaners.
  • Strong understanding and technical knowledge of Siemens Step 7 Version 5.5.of Siemens Step 7 Version 5.5.
Required experience:
  • Bachelors degree (B. A.) from fouryear college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years experience as Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment automotive industry a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of HMI Motoman ABB and Fanuc programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Adaptive to a fastpaced manufacturing environment; automotive industry a plus.
  • Handson mentality and willingness to get dirty as it relates to new equipment build and commissioning launch.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry a plus.
This a fulltime role in the Engineering Department team and reports to the Engineering Manager.
