Position Overview:
As a Tax Preparer you will assist individuals and businesses in accurately preparing and filing their tax returns. This role involves gathering financial information reviewing tax forms and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations. Attention to detail strong analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of tax codes are essential. You will also provide guidance and support to clients requiring excellent communication and customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Communication: Interact with clients to collect necessary financial information and clarify any taxrelated questions or concerns. Offer professional advice on tax deductions credits and strategies to minimize liabilities or maximize refunds.
- Tax Form Preparation: Accurately prepare various tax forms including but not limited to:
- Corporate tax returns (Form 1120 or 1120S)
- Partnership tax returns (Form 1065)
- Individual income tax returns (Form 1040)
- Compliance and Research: Stay current with tax laws regulations and updates to ensure accurate and compliant tax filings. Conduct research as required to address complex tax questions or unique client circumstances.
- Data Analysis and Writeup Work: Review and analyze financial statements receipts expense records and other supporting documentation to identify potential deductions and credits. Perform calculations and reconcile figures to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Software Utilization: Utilize tax preparation software such as Intuit ProSeries and other digital tools effectively to facilitate the preparation review and electronic filing of tax returns. Ensure data accuracy and adhere to security and privacy protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Perform thorough reviews of completed tax returns for accuracy completeness and compliance with tax laws. Identify any potential errors or discrepancies and rectify them promptly.
- Client Service: Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing client inquiries concerns or issues related to their tax filings. Build positive relationships with clients to enhance longterm retention and satisfaction.
- Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of all client interactions documentation and taxrelated information. Ensure confidentiality and secure storage of sensitive data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field (preferred) OR relevant experience in tax preparation.
- Strong knowledge of federal state and local tax laws codes and regulations.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Proficiency in using tax preparation software (e.g. Intuit ProSeries) and other relevant digital tools.Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills to navigate complex tax situations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and tax form preparation.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written to interact with clients and explain tax concepts clearly.
- Professionalism and ethical conduct in handling confidential client information.
- Ability to manage time efficiently meet deadlines and prioritize workload effectively.
- Prior experience in a tax preparation role or relevant certification (CPA Enrolled Agent etc.) is preferred but not required.
