Job Description
Database DevOps Engineer work for an awardwinning Forex company in Cyprus!
- 3 days from office in Larnaca / 2 days from home
Tasks
- Lead the planning management and scaling of datastores to meet complex data requirements.
- Protect databases through rigorous testing of backup and recovery processes and perform regular security audits.
- Use software and tooling to automate manual tasks enabling engineers to innovate without risking data integrity.
- Conduct risk analysis to determine which database challenges to address and which to automate or optimise.
- Work closely with DevOps and team leaders to ensure high levels of standardisation reliability testability maintainability and system availability.
- Educate and support developers building necessary guardrails to empower them in their database management efforts.
- Ensure database integrity by reducing complexity and validating job definitions to maintain accuracy.
Requirements
- BSc/BA in any engineering major.
- Strong foundation in database design implementation and maintenance with deep understanding of DBMSs and SQL.
- Ability to guide software engineers in optimising SQL performance for applications.
- Experience with database automation tools such as Saltstack Puppet or Chef.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus Graphite and Grafana.
- Expertise in preventing database failures and handling failure recovery scenarios.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git for managing code changes and collaborating with team members.
- Experience with Docker and containerbased infrastructure.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts across teams effectively.
- Skilled in documenting and presenting best practices for data storage systems to internal and external teams.
