Job Overview: As a Supplier Quality Engineer specializing in the mechanical domain this role will play a crucial
role in ensuring the quality and reliability of mechanical components and systems sourced from external
suppliers. This role s primary responsibility will be to assess monitor and enhance the quality performance of
suppliers ensuring that their products meet the required standards and specifications. The SQE will collaborate
with crossfunctional teams suppliers and internal stakeholders including Sourcing SCM & Engineering teams
to drive continuous improvement in the supply chain fostering a culture of quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Assessment and Approval:
Conduct thorough evaluations of potential suppliers to ensure they meet the companys
quality standards and requirements for mechanical components.
Collaborate with Sourcing and engineering teams to establish criteria for supplier selection
and approval.
2. Quality Planning:
Develop and implement quality plans for mechanical components outlining inspection
criteria testing procedures and quality control measures.
Collaborate with suppliers to establish mutually agreedupon quality standards and
performance metrics.
3. Supplier Audits and Assessments:
Conduct regular onsite and remote audits of supplier facilities to assess their quality
management systems and production processes.
Identify areas of improvement and work with suppliers to implement corrective and
preventive actions.
4. Quality Control and Inspection:
Establish inspection protocols and standards for incoming mechanical components.
Coordinate with suppliers to address and resolve quality issues promptly including root
cause analysis and corrective actions.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Work collaboratively with suppliers to identify opportunities for process improvement and
cost reduction.
Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall supplier
quality performance.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
Foster strong relationships with crossfunctional teams including Sourcing SCM
engineering and production to align on quality expectations.
Communicate effectively with suppliers to convey quality standards specifications and
improvement plans.
7. Risk Management:
Identify potential risks in the supply chain related to mechanical components and develop
strategies to mitigate these risks.
Collaborate with suppliers to establish contingency plans for unexpected quality issues.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and uptodate records of supplier quality performance audits and
inspections.
Generate regular reports on supplier quality metrics and key performance indicators.
Keep a track of day to day supplier quality issues actions and closure status
Manage supplier rejections / MRB / Blocked stock along with SCM teams for closure.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in supplier quality engineering particularly in the mechanical domain.
Strong understanding of mechanical components manufacturing processes and quality control
methodologies mechanical special processes & control mechanisms
Knowledge of relevant industry standards (AS9100) Aerospace & Defense customer standards /
requirements and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problemsolving and root cause analysis & 8D expertise.
FAI process as per AS9102 requirements
Working experience in Electronics Manufacturing industry (EMS) will be an added advantage.
Ability to travel for onsite supplier visits as needed.
Other Skills Preferred:
Certification in quality management (e.g. Lean Six Sigma CpK studies SPC & MSA Internal auditor).
Familiarity with ERP (SAP) systems and quality management software.
Understanding of both metal & plastic parts manufacturing processes
Coordinating with IQC team
Knowledge of different types of mechanical materials and finishes
Qualifications: Minimum of 6-9 years of experience in supplier quality management, preferably in the electronic components industry. Strong understanding of electronic component manufacturing processes, quality control methodologies, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IPC-A-610). Experience in conducting supplier audits and implementing corrective actions. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders. Proficiency in quality management tools and software applications. Other Skills Preferred: Certification in quality management (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, AS/ISO Internal auditor etc). Familiarity with industry-specific quality standards and IPCA-610 & JSTD Class3 requirements Experience with electronic testing equipment and tools. Ability to manage internal issues and keep regular internal communication with team and CFT Thorough understanding about EMS manufacturing practices and methods
