Job Description
Job Title: Histopathology Technician
Location: Danville IL
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Histology Technician to join our team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to laboratory services in a healthcare setting focusing on Cytology and Surgical Pathology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accession and receive samples for inhouse testing or sendout to reference labs.
- Prepare specimens for analysis while maintaining specimen integrity.
- Edit and verify results in the laboratory information system.
- Maintain and stock specialized supplies in the work area.
- Perform both automated and manual laboratory procedures in Cytology and Surgical Pathology.
- Calibrate standardize and maintain laboratory instruments; perform quality control checks and basic repairs as needed.
- Perform quality control procedures on equipment reagents and specimens ensuring proper documentation.
- Collect and report quality data to support Quality Assurance programs.
- Participate in technical committees related to Cytology and Anatomical Pathology (AP).
- Perform frozen sections when required.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Histopathology certification
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in histology or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience with laboratory instruments and equipment troubleshooting.
