Job Description
Job Title: Sr Financial Accountant
Client: Healthcare Insurance Company
Duration: 3 months contract role
Location: Baltimore Maryland 21224 (hybrid)
Job Description:
Purpose:
- Responsible for various accounting activities including preparation of journal entries reconciliations monthend close and audit preparation.
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts resolves discrepancies by analyzing account information and ensures compliance with GAAP.
- Contributes to special department and organization projects as assigned.
Additional Skills:
- Direct experience with monthend close journal entries actual vs. budget analysis P&L and balance sheet.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred upon hire.
Essential Functions:
- 35%: Verify general ledger data by maintaining reconciliations/analyses resolving outstanding issues and applying analytical accounting software. Provide timely updates to management.
- 30%: Prepare monthly journal entries with supporting documentation ensuring accuracy and adherence to divisional deadlines.
- 20%: Lead special projects analyze financial data verify the integrity of financial statements and interpret contracts for appropriate accounting flows.
- 10%: Improve accounting knowledge through workshops publications and networking.
- 5%: Enhance departmental effectiveness via crosstraining procedure documentation and audit support.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- In lieu of a degree: 4 additional years of relevant experience required.
- Experience:
- 5 years of accounting experience with expertise in financial reconciliations and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong communication (written and oral) problemsolving and analytical skills.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask in a fastpaced evolving environment meeting deadlines while handling customer service demands.
- Must disclose any event that impacts eligibility to perform work on Federal health care programs.
