Job Description
Position: Construction Estimator (Commercial Retail Projects)
Location: Escondido CA
Full time
Summary:
This is not a remote position. In office only.
We are looking for an experienced Estimator. We focus on constantly bettering our services with the help of an elite and talented work force and we are looking to expand our team!
DUTIES & SCOPE:
- Team first leadership.
- Develop accurate and timely construction estimates.
- Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications.
- Must be comfortable talking on the phone. This position will spend approximately. 5060% of its time on the phone talking to subcontractors and vendors
- Build relationships with local subcontractors.
- Work under deadline pressures in an efficient composed and calm manner.
- Support on change orders and costtocomplete estimates of ongoing projects.
- Help generate and communicate company standards for estimating design/build and plans and specs work.
- Perform job handoffs from estimating to operations through clearly demonstrating detailed scopes of work specifications and jobspecific conditions.
- Determine and price valueengineered alternatives to plans and specifications.
- Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative.
- Draft scope letters proposals and vendor solicitations.
- Attend job walks; prebid meetings; collaborations and conferences with clients and design professionals.
- Must be able to prepare complete itemized estimates in support of negotiated opportunities for commercial clients
- Must be able to present via Zoom PowerPoint or in person each project for review by owner and/or client.
- Deals with owners and contractors to resolve technical and/or value engineering matters during the negotiation and contract execution
- Analyze contractual documents and contract modifications to determine the scope of work and scope changes
- Prepares estimates from Excel takeoffs and bid scope summaries to ensure timely completion.
- Review bid opportunities and outline the pros and cons of going after each project for a go/nogo decision
- Review bid opportunity documents (RFP Plans and Specs) to identify critical trades where market bids are needed to bid on the project
- Assist with the development of estimating procedures and guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Outstanding knowledge of overall CSI divisions and bidding scenarios.
- Deep knowledge of commercial construction materials and methods
- Strong management interpersonal organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to perform difficult and complex estimating activities typical to the engineering and construction industry
- Ability to work with engineering drawings and specifications
- Ability to look at any construction project and break down the entire project into the required individual components and scopes
- Team first mindset a good team player selfmotivated gets along well with supervisors peers and subordinates 100% ownership mentality.
