Job Description
An accountants job is to manage and report a companys financial data. They are responsible for a variety of tasks including:
Financial records
Maintaining and organizing financial records including bank statements account books and accounting systems
Financial reporting
Preparing financial statements including cash flow reports and ensuring they are accurate and comply with regulations
Taxes
Calculating taxes owed preparing tax returns and ensuring prompt payment
Financial analysis
Analyzing data to understand a companys financial health including where its generating and losing revenue
Budgeting
Assisting with budgeting and forecasting and managing the annual budget process
Financial strategies
Working with management to develop financial strategies including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting
Cost reduction
Advising on possible cost reductions including efficiency opportunities
Stakeholder management
Managing relationships with directors banks external accountants major creditors and debtors
Accountants work with business leaders and managers to ensure the quality of financial records. They may also collaborate with individual team leaders to audit financial records.
