Summary of Services:
The Research Psychologist will provide the capability to effectively study psychological health and traits of elite performers to inform future recruitment promotion and retention in the Air Force to include reviewing the professional literature compiling and analyzing archival data to investigate the social emotional and behavioral functioning of elite performers and identifying implementable strategies (e.g. personality assessments & wearable technologies) that military leaders can use to increase the recruitment and retention in highdemand occupations in the Air Force.
Working Hours
The Research Psychologist work schedule is based on the needs of the Statistical & Psychology Research Professional Support Team thus the work schedule will be flexibility and shall be expected to participate in team meetings and interact with government personnel as needed during regular duty hours (MF).
Mandatory Qualifications
- Have a minimum of a masters degree specializing in Research Psychology ideally in fields of Industrial Organizational Applied Social or Clinical psychology.
- Have expert knowledge with database development gathering and organizing data supporting analyses for a wide range of analytical procedures research report writing and developing actionable recommendations for improving human performance based on research.
- Have at least 5 years of experience with developing products presenting research outcomes (e.g. statistical results and interpretations) to include professional presentations peerreviewed publications and/or technical reports.
- Have at least 5 years of experience designing and conducting statistical data analysis using software such as JMP SPSS R etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Be familiar with human performance research assessing cognitive and noncognitive areas of psychological functioning via psychological testing instruments with military personnel.
- Experience presenting statistical results at peerreviewed national forums (i.e. Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology American Psychological Association Aerospace Medicine Association) is desired.
- Experience as an author of publications in peerreviewed journals or official USAF technical reports in behavioral science with regards to psychological health or personality data is desired.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for overall statistical analysis of study data in consultation with USAFSAM/FESP professional staff.
- Provide customer leadership a relevant scientific literature review and data analyses as well as participate in related discussions with USAFSAM/FESP staff.
- Confer with and advise USAFSAM/FESP professional staff regarding optimal statistical approach to analysis of psychological data to include personality data. The contractor employee shall perform statistical analyses of study data using descriptive and inferential statistical procedures.
- Minimize any threats to the validity of the statistical products or online data repositories as well as maintain the data in a secure fashion consistent with IRB protocol and safeguards. The contractor employee shall maintain confidentiality of screening data contents of technical reports and presentation of data deemed sensitive and not releasable to the general public.
- Complete the appropriate IRB paperwork and training requirements for conducting research.
- Prepare reports of scientific/statistical results in support of scientific literature publication in coordination with USAFSAM/FESP and 711 HPW staff. The number of professional presentations reports and papers shall be verified based upon the relevance of research findings as they become available.
- Work with USAFSAM/FESP personnel regarding personal limitations on travel scheduling. The contractor employee shall maintain communications with project personnel that facilitate teamwork; adhere to strict confidentiality and classification requirements in all forms of communication.
- Responsible for data management and coordinating process with project team members which shall include acquisition input maintenance electronic format products and storage of all project data.
- Assist staff in the collection of assessment data maintenance and downloading into the project database.
- Provide project operations support to include assistance with USAFSAM/FES research activities and acquisition of data in support of project goals and objectives.
- Arrange lead oversee and participate in research team meetings (to include leading a weekly meeting) as needed to ensure effective communication between research team members as related to the achievement of project research goals.
- If there is an unexpected in research capabilities and/or reduction in workload the contractor employee(s) shall support research endeavors in support of additional USAFSAM/FESP related investigations as required.
