As a Commis II in the Staff Kitchen you will be responsible for the prep and execution of the daily menu of the Staff Restaurant. You will set up the station by obtaining all equipment and materials needed, prepare the station for service, and ensure a neat, clean, and organized work area throughout and following service. Flexibility in working in working mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
College degree preferably specializing in hotel/restaurant management or culinary arts, or equivalent experience is required.
At least 1 year of related work experience within similar position.
Food Preparation
Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
Follow recipes and instructions from chefs to ensure consistency and quality.
Cooking Assistance
Help with cooking tasks as directed by chefs or cooks, including grilling, frying, and baking.
Monitor food items while they are cooking to ensure they are prepared correctly.
Cleaning and Sanitation
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a sanitary environment.
Stock Management
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring that food supplies are properly stocked and organized.
Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to supervisors.
Team Collaboration
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
Communicate effectively with chefs and other team members to coordinate tasks.
Equipment Maintenance
Help maintain kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions or issues to management.
Ensure that all tools and equipment are cleaned and stored properly after use.
Desired Candidate Profile
Educational Qualifications
High School Diploma: Preferred; not always required.
Experience
Previous Experience: 1-2 years in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus but not mandatory.
