The Role
The role youre describing focuses on Chef AWS Terraform and DevOps with a strong emphasis on CI/CD processes system monitoring and collaboration across teams. Responsibilities include Chef Cookbook creation maintenance and troubleshooting as well as managing Chef Automate on AWS. The role also involves ensuring security and compliance promoting cookbooks across environments and addressing issues through ticketing systems. Strong technical proficiency problemsolving skills and effective communication are essential for success in this position.
Skills Requirements
- Mandatory Skillset Chef AWS Terraform and DevOps with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and Python requiring 5 years of experience for Senior roles and 23 years for Junior roles.
- Good To Have Env0 GitHub Actions requiring 12 years of experience
Requirements
Infrastructure Automation:
- Chef Cookbook Creation: Create new cookbooks including for new operating systems.
- CrossPlatform Cookbook Creation: Develop cookbooks for both Windows and Linux environments.
- Application Deployment: Build cookbooks for applications such as MS SQL and MongoDB.
- Automated Testing: Implement automated testing for cookbooks.
- Maintain Existing Chef Recipes: Ensure all current Chef recipes are functioning properly updating them to align with the latest software releases and patches.
- Troubleshoot Issues: Monitor the ticketing queue for Chefrelated trouble tickets and resolve them.
- Chef Dashboard Monitoring: Proactively monitor the Chef dashboard for issues create trouble tickets as needed and resolve them.
- Manage Chef Automate on AWS: Maintain and upgrade Chef Automate installed on AWS EC2 ensuring its stability and performance.
- Disaster Recovery (DR) Support: Handle Chefs disaster recovery configuration and be able to initiate DR procedures when needed.
- Promotion of Cookbooks: Ensure that cookbooks are successfully promoted across different environments after deployment.
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient code deployments.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Monitor infrastructure performance troubleshoot issues and ensure system reliability and high availability.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with development operations and security teams to optimize processes and foster collaboration.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure that infrastructure adheres to security standards and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Chef AWS and DevOps tools like Jenkins Env0 and GitHub Actions.
- Scripting Expertise: Proficient in scripting languages like Ruby Python or Bash.
- ProblemSolving Abilities: Excellent troubleshooting skills to address infrastructure and operational issues.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
Strong expertise in Chef and AWS is mandatory. DevOps knowledge, with experience in CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Env0, and GitHub Actions.
