Job Description

The City of Raleigh is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator to oversee the configuration deployment maintenance and optimization of our organizations M365 environment.

This is a hybrid position. The candidate will work onsite three days a week and work remotely two days a week.

This role requires a deepunderstanding of M365 services including Exchange Online SharePoint OnlineTeams and related technologies. The City of Raleigh continues to grow itsinvestment in both M365 and the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. The ideal candidate willhave a proven track record of implementing and managing complex M365deployments in enterprise environments.

This role is a hybridposition offering remote work two days a week. Three days of work will be on site in our city s Central CommunicationCenter.

Responsibilities:

M365 Deployment and Configuration

o Design plan andimplement M365 solutions to meet the organizations business needs andtechnical requirements.

o Configure andcustomize M365 services including Exchange Online SharePoint Online TeamsOneDrive for Business and Office 365 applications.

o Implementsecurity and compliance features such as data loss prevention (DLP)conditional access and information protection policies.

Identity andAccess Management

o Manage useridentities and access controls using Entra ID and M365 admin center.

o Help implementsingle signon (SSO) and multifactor authentication (MFA) via Azure to enhancesecurity and user experience.

o Configurerolebased access control (RBAC) and privilege management to enforce leastprivilege access principles.

Exchange Onlineand Microsoft Teams

o AdministerExchange Online including mailbox management distribution lists mail flowrules and message hygiene settings.

o Configure andmanage Microsoft Teams for collaboration including channels meetings chatand integration with other M365 services.

o OptimizeSharePoint Online sites and libraries for document lifecycle managementversion control and collaboration workflows.

Data Managementand Governance

o Implement datagovernance policies and retention labels to classify protect and manage dataacross M365 workloads.

o Monitor datausage and storage consumption optimizing resources and addressing potentialcompliance risks.

o Collaborate withstakeholders to define and enforce information lifecycle management (ILM)policies and procedures.

Monitoring andTroubleshooting

o Monitor thehealth and performance of M365 services using builtin tools and thirdpartymonitoring solutions.

o Troubleshoot andresolve technical issues related to M365 services collaborating with Microsoftsupport as needed.

o Perform rootcause analysis of incidents and implement preventive measures to minimizefuture disruptions.

User Training andSupport

o Provide trainingand support to endusers on M365 applications and features promoting bestpractices for productivity and collaboration.

o Develop andmaintain selfservice resources such as knowledge base articles FAQs andvideo tutorials.

o Assist with useronboarding and offboarding processes ensuring a seamless transition of accessand data.

ContinuousImprovement and Innovation

o Stay current withM365 updates releases and roadmap announcements evaluating new features andcapabilities for adoption.

o Identifyopportunities to utilize the Power Platform for process automation workflowoptimization and cost reduction within the M365 environment.

o Engage withstakeholders to gather feedback prioritize enhancements and drive continuousimprovement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Associate s degreein Computer Science Information Technology or related field.

13 years ofexperience as a M365 Administrator or similar role in an enterprise environment.

Proficiency inconfiguring and administering M365 services including Exchange OnlineSharePoint Online Teams and Entra ID.

Strongunderstanding of identity and access management concepts including SSO MFARBAC Zero Trust and Conditional Access policies.

Excellentproblemsolving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issuesacross M365 workloads.

Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborateeffectively with crossfunctional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degreein Computer Science Information Technology or related field.

35 years ofexperience as a M365 Administrator or similar role in an enterpriseenvironment.

Strongfamiliarity with the Information Technology Infrastructure Libr ary(ITIL) process including change management and IT service management.

Proficiency inPowerShell scripting for automation and management of M365 environments.

Experience withM365 security and compliance features such as DLP information protection andaudit logging.

RelevantMicrosoft or cloud certifications such as MS900 MS102

Experience in theAzure environment for both government and commercial tenants.

Familiarity withIntune SCCM or Endpoint Manager for application and device management.
