Job Description

The Occupational Therapists main goal is to deliver therapy services to residents track their progress and adjust treatments as necessary to help residents meet their physical goals. The therapist will also provide oversight and guidance to therapy assistants and rehabilitation aides.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administers occupational therapy services to residents and initiates referrals when needed following Occupational Therapy Department procedures.
  • Conducts regular screenings to assess residents needs for intervention or treatment.
  • Evaluates residents to collect data required for treatment planning and implementation performing specialized assessments as necessary.
  • Communicates evaluation findings to residents families and team members.
  • Collaborates with other team members to establish individual therapy schedules for residents.
  • Develops treatment plans that include both short and longterm goals and outlines strategies to meet those goals.
  • Coordinates treatment plans with the resident their family and other team members.
  • Implements treatment plans and conducts therapy sessions based on outlined strategies.
  • Monitors residents responses to treatment and adjusts the plan as needed to meet goals in line with physician orders.
  • Designs home programs or communitybased programming to support residents performance in their own environments.
  • Records outcomes of resident evaluations treatments followups and service termination.
  • Modifies treatment plans to address individual resident needs.
  • Recommends provides or fabricates adaptive devices or equipment training residents family members and staff in their use.
  • Participates in discharge planning.
  • Oversees Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in executing treatment plans.
  • Supervises Rehabilitation Aides students and volunteers.
  • Reviews the quality and appropriateness of occupational therapy services and programs ensuring efficiency and effectiveness according to established criteria.
  • Engages in resident family and staff education.
  • Collaborates with team members formally and informally to coordinate the residents overall rehabilitation plan.
  • Adheres to department procedures for documenting occupational therapy services.
  • Provides inservice education to the residents care team and conducts educational outreach to the community.
  • Delivers therapy services in accordance with established professional standards department procedures and productivity guidelines.
  • Consistently applies sound judgment in evaluating planning implementing and following up on therapy programs for residents.
  • Maintains punctuality and organizes the schedule to maximize productivity and efficiency during assigned shifts.
  • Participates in the Quality Assurance Program as needed.
  • Stays informed about relevant laws and regulations regarding rehabilitative services and consults with supervisors to ensure compliance with applicable rules.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Successful completion of the National Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy (OTR).
  • Commitment to ongoing continuing education and professional development.
  • Holds current state licensure or is licenseeligible.
