Numerical Relay Engineer

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Numerical Relay Testing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of numerical relay protection systems and have a proven track record in testing and commissioning these devices. This role will involve working closely with project teams clients and vendors to ensure the successful implementation of numerical relay protection schemes.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Testing and Commissioning:

Conduct comprehensive testing of numerical relays including functional performance and acceptance tests.

Configure and calibrate numerical relays according to project specifications and industry standards.

Commission numerical relay protection schemes into substation environments.

Verify the correct operation of numerical relays in conjunction with other substation equipment.

Documentation:

Prepare detailed test reports commissioning procedures and other relevant documentation.

Maintain accurate records of testing activities and results.

Technical Support:

Provide technical support to project teams and clients regarding numerical relay protection systems.

Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to numerical relay performance.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure adherence to quality standards and procedures throughout the testing and commissioning process.

Identify and address potential quality issues related to numerical relay installations.

Training:

Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest advancements in numerical relay technology.

Provide training and guidance to junior engineers on numerical relay testing and commissioning procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma/bachelor s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in numerical relay testing and commissioning.

Strong understanding of numerical relay protection principles and applications.

Proficiency in using testing equipment and software tools.

Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g. IEC IEEE).

Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in numerical relay protection (e.g. SchniederGE ABB/Hitachi Siemens).

Experience with substation automation systems.

Knowledge of SCADA and substation control systems.

Additional Skills:

Proficiency in relevant software tools

Experience with substation design and engineering practices.
