Maintenance Technician
Are you a Maintenance Technician looking to join an awardwinning Library that can provide great ility and amazing work culture The Schaumburg Township District Library has a 20 hour/week parttime nonexempt Maintenance Technician position open. Hours are as follows and requires flexibility:
Monday – Friday 10:00am – 2:00pm
The schedule is based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed. Starting pay is $17.8422.29 an hour based on ss and qualifications.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping our facilities operating optimally and repairing any problems when discovered by performing cleaning duties minor repairs and limited ground maintenance in and around the Library facilities at all locations as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform cleaning duties minor repairs and limited ground maintenance as requested.
- Report need for major repairs to Facilities Management.
- Report need for supply orders to Facilities Management.
- ist in and maintain building safety. Report all safety hazards to the Facilities Management
- ist in daily meeting room setups and preparation.
- ist in maintaining the cleanliness of Library facilities by: leaning all entrance ways and perimeter sidewalks sweeping all garbage in parking lot and islands emptying all outside garbage bags and replenishing with new bags on a daily basis.
- ist with all outside cleaning projects.
- ist with the deliveries on and shipments off the dock.
- Provide backup istance to security personnel as needed.
- Attend meetings and training as required or requested.
- Abide by the policies and procedures of the Library.
- Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality.
- Communicate clearly either in person on the telephone and in writing.
- Cope with the stress of the job and get along with coworkers.
- Maintain the ability and patience to understand and make yourself understood by all patrons.
- Other duties as igned.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications is required.
- Ability to read and interpret doents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written and oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
