Assigned to the Machining Value Stream specializes in the highspeed production of precision components used for the fabrication and assembly of medical devices in the dental industry. Screw machine operators perform a variety of tasks in their work with one or more multiplespindle automatic lathetype screw machines. These machines are used to produce custom parts from stock metal or other materials. Screw machine operators ensure the machine is properly set up to perform the various operations needed to produce these parts. Operators read blueprints and determine exactly what screw machine settings are needed to create an actual working part from the plans. The operator chooses cutting speeds the depth of cuts how fast the machine should run and which cutting tools should be used for each operation. Operators base their decisions on experience knowledge about the materials being used and basic mathematic principles. Operate and maintain equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand 8 hours a day reach and perform lifting (occasionally up to 50 pounds). Occasional work beyond shift hours or on weekends as needed.
Working Conditions:
Regular exposure to manufacturing plant environment with some abnormal variations in temperature unavoidable fumes noise dust and atmospheric conditions. Regularly in proximity to or using chemicals sharp tools and other manufacturing equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception and ability to focus.
