Our client was founded in 2016 to serve the growing demands of logistics to internal and external customer in AsiaPacific region. Every customer and his individual situation is at the center of our offered solution.
They are looking for a Operations Manager to join their team in Malaysia which is supporting the AsiaPacific region. You will be responsible for overseeing the daytoday operations of the department ensuring the efficient movement of goods and providing exceptional service to clients. This position involves supervising a team of logistics specialists managing workflows and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of logistics specialists.
- Set performance expectations provide coaching and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- To be a role model for entire Team with customer oriented mindset and positive solution finding mentality
- Handle team scheduling and resource allocation to optimize workflows.
Operations Management:
- Oversee the endtoend logistics process including documentation customs clearance shipping and delivery. Review and define internal work processes/SOPs to achieve highest level of efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- To hold frequent review meetings with customers Logistics Service Providers (LSP) as well as internal meetings for all operation relevant topics
- To onboard new customers and implement standard operating procedure (SOP) to liaise in the team and towards Logistics Service Provider (LSP)
- To measure service performance on frequently basis
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of shipments monitoring key
milestones and deadlines. - Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to meet client
requirements. - Resolve operational issues and address client inquiries effectively.
- To coordinate and oversee incident and complain issues timely and correct.
Training and Development:
- Stay updated with industry trends and share knowledge with the team.
Safety and Risk Management:
- Promote and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations especially in handling hazardous materials (if applicable).
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the
department. - Participate in projects aimed at optimizing forwarding operations.
Requirements
Experience:
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Knowledge:
- Proficiency in freight forwarding procedures including documentation
customs clearance routing and carrier selection. - Understanding of international trade and shipping regulations.
- Knowledge of relevant software and tools used in forwarding operations.
Communication Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members clients and partners.
- Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
Leadership Skills:
- Leadership qualities such as the ability to motivate coach and mentor team members.
- Decisionmaking skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.

- Knowledge of import and export regulations including customs documentation and compliance with trade laws.

- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from various departments such as sales operations and finance to ensure smooth logistics processes.
