Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detailoriented Lead Data Center Technician to join our data center operations team. This role involves installing troubleshooting and maintaining low voltage systems and networking infrastructure within a fastpaced and highsecurity data center environment. The ideal candidate has experience working with low voltage cabling fiber optics and network equipment installation adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of 510 technicians; Delegate workload Supervise Train etc.
  • Coordinate with team leadership on different aspects of the project such as; required workload completion percentage material needs/usage technician QA etc.
  • Install terminate and test low voltage cabling including Cat5e/6/6A fiber optic and coaxial cables in data center environments.
  • Install and mount networking equipment such as routers switches patch panels and firewalls in server racks.
  • Perform cable management labeling and patching ensuring all work adheres to established standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with low voltage cabling and networking equipment performing tests and inspections to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with data center engineers electricians and other team members to coordinate installations and upgrades.
  • Read and interpret technical blueprints schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and security following all data center protocols and guidelines.
  • Keep accurate records of installations updates and repairs performed.
  • Stay uptodate with industry trends and technologies relevant to low voltage systems and networking hardware.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus (e.g. BICSI CompTIA Network).
  • 2 years of experience installing and maintaining low voltage cabling and networking equipment in a data center environment.
  • Proficiency with cable testing tools and network equipment.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards such as ANSI/TIA/EIA and BICSI.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with power distribution units (PDUs) and server rack configurations.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments including confined spaces and high places.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with hyperscale data centers.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10 Lift BICSI etc.
  • Experience with structured cabling systems.
Work Environment:
  • This position requires working in a climatecontrolled data center environment with regular physical activity including climbing ladders and working with tools and equipment.
