We are currently looking for an experienced Java developer with a passion for leading technical teams and shaping innovative digital solutions in the healthcare sector. We are looking for a dynamic DEV Lead/Architect to join our team in Brussels and take on a handson role in guiding IT professionals driving architectural decisions and ensuring the successful delivery of key projects.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders to manage and optimize Javabased systems with a focus on healthcare interoperability (FHIR) and eHealth flows. If you have strong abstract thinking skills expertise in Agile/Scrum and the ability to challenge and coach IT professionals this is the perfect role for you.

Job Description

Expertise:

  • At least 5 years of experience in people management.
  • Ability to technically and procedurally guide IT professionals and challenge them.

  • Experience in developing in Java and coaching on approach.
  • Knowledge of FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources).

Responsibilities:

  • Handson Java development.
  • Reporting on progress in development operations and service desk in the initial phase.
  • Close collaboration with the operational IT team contributing to handson development work.
  • Develop technical guidelines and provide procedural guidance to IT professionals challenging them as needed.
  • Summarize development progress and bottlenecks from a macrolevel project approach (Agile/Scrum).
  • Understand the impact of new functional requirements.
  • Make technical assessments at the macro level and propose technical choices in consultation with developers serving as a liaison with software houses (operations; solutions for software houses).
  • Assess the technical impact of developments on software houses (macrolevel) in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Draft documents for software houses (specifications cookbooks) in consultation with other team members.
  • Prepare release planning.
  • Proactively propose technical optimizations for the system to ensure a sustainable solution in the long term.
  • Manage the Operations/Architecture backlog dashboard (document and prioritize in JIRA).
  • Discuss prioritization with business managers to ensure clear agreements for development prioritization.
  • Provide leadership through coaching:
    • Guide the development team in an Agile framework addressing bottlenecks and summarizing them within the broader project approach.
    • Supervise SWL (manage operations at a macro level introduce the service desk at a macro level and provide a global structure).

Education:

  • Masters degree (mandatory requirement).
  • Preferably an ITrelated education (Master in IT Civil Engineer Business Engineer in Management Information Systems).

Languages:

  • Dutch (fluent in speaking and writing).
  • English (fluent in writing).
  • French (understanding).
