Job Description
- Developing and designing structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. This involves analyzing the proposed design, considering factors such as load-bearing capacity, stability, and safety requirements, and creating detailed structural drawings and specifications.
- Performing structural analysis using computer-aided design (CAD) software and engineering principles to ensure that the proposed design can withstand loads and forces and meet safety standards. This includes evaluating structural integrity, stability, and performance under different conditions, such as gravity loads, wind loads, seismic loads, and temperature variations.
- Selecting appropriate materials for structural components based on their properties, strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness. This may involve considering various materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and masonry, and determining the most suitable material for each structural element.
- Ensuring that structural designs and construction practices comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Collaborating with architects, construction teams, and other engineers to integrate the structural design with the overall project requirements.
- Preparing shop drawings.
