Job Description

Job Summary

The CSPD Quality Assurance Interim Manager (QA Manager) will conduct and oversee daytoday operations needed for successful capture of field issues and reliability testing. This includes but is not limited to receipt test analysis and reporting. The manager shall be able to proficiently oversee an average of 30 audits per person per day worked and weekly QA reports submitted to SIPS Project Specialist.

Job Functions

The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee the capture and development of statistical analysis and trend data in order to maintain the Quality Information System (QIS).
Conduct and document safety orientation for new hires annual compliance safety violations and other training as needed.
Ensure competency evaluations are conducted through skill demonstration and written assessments; determine areas for performance improvement and implement recommendations to improve operational quality.
Develop and use evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of training.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of quality best practices and industry trends.
Document improvement findings and provide regular updates; submit reports to delegated management.
Create record and maintain accurate inservice records as required by the customer and regulatory agencies.
Engage in process and quality improvement activities while simultaneously driving quality projects
Ensure that processes and services are continuously monitored for: quality cost effectiveness and efficiency.
Ensure that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations organizational policy(s) and accreditation compliance requirements.
Streamline QA processes for optimal outcomes as evidenced by a decrease in returned trays.
Maintain instrument calibration documentation and procedures.
Ensure maintenance of accurate and organized records of quality assurance activities.
Maintain organized inventory of retained products and identify products no longer needed.
Address complaint and document responses to CSPD management and the individual that reported the issues.
Issue credits and replacement orders as required for complaint resolution.
Follow up with SIPS Project Specialist weekly.
Report on outstanding issues following the time frames established in written procedures.
Coordinate rework of product as required in response to complaints.
Recommend corrective actions requests when appropriate.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A successful QA Manager will be highly motivated able to multitask and can communicate effectively with all levels within the company.
Be a highly motivated selfstarter capable of working independently as well as in group settings.
Will plan develop and support the implementation of a quality assurance program that promotes quality patient care.
Will develop a continuous Quality Improvement plan.
Will develop objective positionspecific tools for performance and QA evaluation.
Will ensure performance of QA reviews on staff in collaboration with CSPD management.
Coordinate QA feedback to respective management positions.
Work with the leadership staff in Central Sterile Processing to improve QA programs as needed.
Responsible for adherence of quality control on all sterilizers (i.e. biological chemical and mechanical monitoring) according to the standards set by: The Joint Commission AORN and AAMI.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the facility.
Ability to assess and identify educational needs.
Performs other duties as management may direct.
Ability to successfully teach certification prep class with a pass rate of 90100%.
Have knowledge of and stay in compliance with applicable infection control policies and procedures.


Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:

Minimum fifteen (15) years of Sterile Processing experience
IAHCSMM/HSPA or CBSPD Central Sterile Processing Manager Certification
8 years of SPD Supervisor or Educator experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledgeable of and in compliance with all applicable infection control health and safety policies and procedures as implemented by the department and/or work unit and the facility
Must be able to work in a collaborative manner
Proficient with Word Excel and instrument management systems
Thorough knowledge of the operation of instruments and equipment in the department
Thorough knowledge of aseptic technique principles and ability to apply such principles when orienting staff at hospitals
Preferred
5 years of CSPD Educator experience preferred
Associate s degree in Business Nursing or Healthcare Administration
