Position Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for the design analysis and documentation of electrical systems for microgrids mobile power generation power distribution and renewable energy equipment. Duties may also include onsite commissioning and troubleshooting work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and review medium/low voltage electrical power generation distribution and microgrid systems.
- Prepare electrical documentation including Short Circuit Arc Flash and Coordination Power System Grounding Load Flow Harmonics Fault studies and Transient studies using software such as ETAP/SKM.
- Prepare other documentation including area classifications drawings and reports fugitive emissions studies singleline diagrams and electrical BOMs as well as reports associated with electrical system studies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to electrical systems.
- Provide engineering support to other departments as needed.
Educational and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of cumulative experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience with medium voltage power generation system design (including distribution line design).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing electrical studies with ETAP/SKM.
- Thorough knowledge of applications electrical codes and standards (IEEE NEC NFPA API etc.).
- Experience with Power Generation Controls and Automation.
- Experience with programming Digital Multifunction Relays.
- Experience developing relay logic electrical protection and coordination schemes.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and skills.
- Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and industry practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Master’s degree.
- Experience with electrical systems design in the oil and gas and/or mining industries.
- Experience in the installation operation or troubleshooting of industrial automation equipment.
