Technical Director - Ecology Lead for Northern Region

Lanpro is a market leading multidisciplinary consultancy who specialise in Planning Design and the Environment.

We work on projects at all scales within town semirural and rural contexts across a variety of sectors that includes residential historic sites and estates renewable energy and mixeduse commercial developments.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to work closely with our Director of Ecology to grow a new ecology and biodiversity team in the north with offices already established in York Manchester and Scotland.

Ecology and biodiversity is a relatively new offering for Lanpro complementing our strong planning and design capability. The role will suit you if you are excited by leadership autonomy and ownership.

Job Purpose
As a Technical Director for the Northern region you will be responsible for all aspects of growing and managing a successful ecology business at a divisional level. Though you will report to our Director of Ecology you will have the autonomy to drive change deliver excellence and grow our client base in the regions under your accountability. You will be supported by the wider Ecology team which continues to grow throughout Cambridge London and Norwich and you will be empowered to consider your resourcing needs to build success in the Northern region.

Key Responsibilities
Developing ourselves and others

• Builds and leads a successful ecology and biodiversity team based in the Northern area (ideally based in York however remote candidates also considered)
• Demonstrates effective management and the ability to influence and persuade across a range of stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Helps to ensure all members of the team are effectively developed and is committed to personal CPD in pursuit of continuous learning and selfimprovement.
• Brings fresh ideas to team growth and structure in a challenging recruitment market.
• Inputs into team objectives and delegates effectively.
• Takes responsibility for line management coaching mentoring training wellbeing and performance management.

• Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multidisciplinary design team.
• Champions the Lanpro client centric agenda internally and externally.
• Establishes consolidates and builds on relationships with new and existing clients and colleagues.
• Maintains strong client sector and discipline networking across the York Manchester and Scotland area.
• Ensures client expectations are managed appropriately and that their needs are identified and met (or exceeded).
• Provides technical input into projects and bids and uses technical knowledge to identify and realise new client opportunities.

Delivering our projects

• Day to day line management of the Northern ecology and biodiversity team.
• Performs a challenging range and variety of complex technical and professional activities in the pursuit of project excellence.
• Ensures compliance and adherence to all applicable SHEQ procedures for self and others.
• Takes a key role in projects within relevant specialist field.
• Project Director / Project Manager / Discipline Lead for projects of all scales and complexities.
• Maintains continuing professional development in accordance with the requirements of CIEEM.

Qualifications & Experience

• In excess of 10 years relevant experience.
• MCIEEM / CEcol / CEnv preferred.
• Leadership / management experience preferred.
