Sr Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detailoriented and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team. As a Senior Staff Accountant you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing financial operations ensuring accuracy in reporting and supporting the companys financial health. This position requires a strong background in accounting particularly in the agriculture industry along with excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
• MonthEnd Close: Lead the monthend and yearend closing processes including the preparation of journal entries reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts providing detailed analysis of financial data to support business decisions.
• Cost Accounting: Monitor and analyze costs related to agricultural operations ensuring accurate cost allocation and reporting for improved profitability.
• Internal Controls: Develop implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and safeguard company assets.
• Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audits ensuring compliance with all financial regulations.
• Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns ensuring compliance with federal state and local tax regulations.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and support company objectives.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role preferably within the agriculture industry.
  • Strong experience in financial reporting general ledger management and cost accounting.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of GAAP tax regulations and agricultural accounting practices.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software implementation.
  • Familiarity with the financial aspects of agricultural operations including crop and livestock accounting.
