Job Description


Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Determine the quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, engineering or a related field; an MBA would be a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing role within the engineering industry
  • Proven working experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar role
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing processes, policy, and systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing management software
  • Proven ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a team
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and work with figures
  • Comfortable with figures and in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data
  • Solid judgement along with decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Professional certification in supply chain management or similar relevant field is a plus.
