Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Configuration Manager to support the growth and development of the Configuration and Data Management Team of Raytheon UK, Airborne ISR.
As the Principal Configuration and Data Manager, the successful candidate will lead and manage the resource demands and set the strategies, policies and procedures to support design and engineering activities covering aircraft modification and support programmes within Raytheon UK, Airborne ISR.
The position requires thorough knowledge and experience of design lifecycle management and processes in aircraft programmes and configuration principals and data management. Professional Configuration Management is critical to Raytheon's continued success, and as such, this role provides good opportunities for personal development including Professional Accreditation.
Duties:
- Establish tailored configuration control on development programmes and bids. Ensure the successful delivery of the CM/DM requirements for any given contract.
- Create Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for CM and DM activities based on existing Raytheon 'Best practice' where possible for any future contract.
- Review and advise of toolsets and steps required to enable successful transformation from current manual processes to PLM-type toolset environment introducing product efficiencies and cost-effectivity.
- Both perform and oversee the activities of the Configuration and Data Management teams to ensure work is carried out on schedule. Review workload requirements for the execution of Configuration and Data Management on current and future programmes and ensure that adequate resource is in place to meet demands.
- Work in partnership with the Airborne ISR Requirements Management Lead) across AIRBORNE ISR programmes to ensure an integrated approach to the management of baselines.
- Oversee the use of Configuration Control Boards to control the establishment and subsequent change of configuration baselines
- Perform document control and data management including the coordination, production and delivery of all data items generated on the programs. This includes auditing for compliance with customer, security, and program standards including FAI, FCA and PCA audits.
- Be prepared, willing and able to perform hands on data processing in PDM/PLM toolsets to support the CM team during busy periods of work.
- Maintain programme alignment by establishing communications with programme personnel as well as through CMDM functional management. This includes interface with Supply Chain Management as well as staff at suppliers or sub-contractors.
- Act as the AIRBORNE ISR Steering Group member for the CM / DM Specialist Interest Group (forum) ensuring AIRBORNE ISR representation. Provide experience to assess and develop current team structures and develop a single CM/DM approach ensuring collaboration across multiple programmes and engineering domains.
- Provide performance related data to support Estimate to Complete (ETC) information required by the programme. This includes creating and maintaining performance metrics.
- Review, update and where required create and establish new processes for configuration identification, control, change management, status accounting and auditing for development and operational systems.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Knowledge of CMMI, ISO 9000, MAOS and DAOS requirements, be able to effectively influence, interface and communicate with multiple levels of management and colleagues in other engineering disciplines.
- Conversant with and practical knowledge of CM Standards, eg Def Stan 05-57 and 05-123, EIA 649, ISO 10008, ITIL etc.
- Extensive knowledge of PLM/PDM toolsets such as Windchill or Enovia.
- Experience in the ability to manage a complex CMDM task involving multiple systems with multiple user and customer interfaces at all levels.
- Experience of providing CM and DM solutions satisfying all aspects of the Design Engineering Life Cycle and beyond into Service Support.
- A track record of setting up new programmes and ventures. This will include tailored process creation and introduction using current CM methodology, establishing guidelines and rules for all functions/levels and introductions of suitable toolsets to enable successful configuration management.
- Experience of developing and implementing new strategies within programmes and delivery teams with an emphasis on single common approach across multiple disciplines and programmes to drive efficiency.
