Our client a highly respected and leading Manufacturing Firm is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in the firm leading the accounting department and reporting directly to the Controller.
Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining and improving all accounting processes and procedures to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements. This role will collaborate closely with the Controller to ensure compliance efficiency and accuracy.
Accountabilities:
Ensure all financial statements and monthly quarterly and annual schedules are completed in a timely accurate manner
Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budget commentaries and investigation of variances
Month end close including journal entries and accruals
Fixed assets including physical count handling of capital appropriation requests performing ROI analysis and supporting non finance leaders on investment decisions
Managerial cost management functions including costing standards controls analytics EOZ physical inventory process
Ensure monthly account reconciliations are performed accurately completely and on time
Responsible for the implementation of robust internal controls monitoring compliance and for the maintenance of adequate documentation
Key contact for annual internal SOX audit and any external audits
Ensure compliance with taxes including HST and US state sales
Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual tax information submissions
Partnering within internal and cross functional teams to support adhoc requests
Controller ship Mindset ensuring all activities are executed fully in compliance with US GAAP SOX and Corporate reporting policies
Other duties as assigned (including conversion related tasks)
Requirements
A University/College degree in accounting along with a professional accounting designation such as CPA or actively working towards obtaining one
3 5 years relevant experience in accounting and at least 1 year of leadership experience
Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX with experience driving improvements in internal controls
Demonstrated planning organizational and time management skills
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles
Precise attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels in the organization
High level of integrity and ethical standards
Advanced Excel skills
