Senior DevOps Engineer

JOB PURPOSE

We’re currently offering an exceptional opportunity for a full-time remote position. We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer who wants to work on an Agile

development team building, testing, and deploying platform capabilities that enable agile product development teams to succeed. You will help create the foundation for the successful delivery and operations of public and private cloud software components as we modernize a product suite. 

You will be working with other talented and driven individuals and have the opportunity to mentor, collaborate, and share your skills and knowledge as well as lead and help influence the Developer Experience. It streamlines operations and drives growth. The software is cloud-based and completely integrated, from purchasing through to delivery.

Our current project entails the development of cloud-based ERP business management software catering to a fully integrated business management solution for small to medium-sized businesses. With dedicated divisions catering to manufacturing, wholesale/retail distribution, building and construction, and field service, the chosen candidates will be responsible for crafting solutions seamlessly integrated into all facets of our client's operations. These solutions aim to level the playing field, streamline day-to-day activities, and provide our clients the freedom to prioritize their core business objectives.

All candidates must be able to work within the US time zone (CST or EST).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Build software and systems to manage infrastructure, platforms, and applications to enable the continuous integration, continuous testing, and continuous deployment of software products.

Apply best practices for infrastructure and platform provisioning, configuration, management, and automated software deployments using DevSecOps pipeline technologies.

Leverage open-source and fit-for-purpose tools to manage private, hybrid, and public cloud infrastructures and platforms via code, designing reusable infrastructure and platform components for scalable, highly-available, secure architectures for applications.

Develop cloud data services provisioning automation with integrated capabilities of IAM, network, security policies as code, and observability.

Evaluate and apply best practices to facilitate continuous improvement that can be applied across teams.

Support the development and deployment of prototypes and solutions within commercial cloud solutions leveraging IaaS and PaaS services.

Collaborate with software developers to ensure smooth deployments to the Cloud.

Leverage tools like JIRA, GitHub, Jellyfish, and Confluence to track development activities, control source code, and author documentation.

Communicate key project data to team members and build team cohesion and effectiveness.

Provide input/suggestions on technical approaches to the Agile teams.

Participate in informal/formal technical interchanges and formal reviews.

Additional responsibilities as needed by the product development organization.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience as a Software DevOps Engineer

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

5+ years experience with Linux system administration and Linux command line

5+ years experience with Windows system administration

5+ years experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python or equivalent

3+ years experience with building, orchestrating, and managing containerized workloads (AWS ECS/EKS, Azure Container Apps, AKS, Docker, etc.)

3+ years experience with AWS, Azure or GCP

3+ years with Azure DevOps, GitLab or equivalent

3+ years experience with Bicep/ARM, Terraform and/or CloudFormation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environments

Experience with configuration management software (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

Knowledge of configuring monitoring solutions and the creation of dashboards (DataDog, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry)

Experience with BDD, TDD and other agile/XP practices

Experience with hybrid/multi-cloud environments a big plus!

Experience with .Net Core (C#) is a big plus!
