Job Title: Hospital / Aged Care Ward Clerk

Location: Various Locations Across Australia

Job Type: FullTime / PartTime / Casual

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organised and detailoriented Hospital / Aged Care Ward Clerk to join our team. In this essential role you will provide administrative support within the hospital or aged care facility ensuring smooth and efficient operations in the ward. Your role will involve managing patient records coordinating communication and supporting healthcare staff to enhance patient care and facility operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Administration: Perform a range of administrative tasks including patient admissions discharges and transfers ensuring accurate and timely processing of information.
  • Record Management: Maintain and update patient records including personal details medical histories and treatment plans ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Communication Coordination: Serve as a primary point of contact for patients families and healthcare professionals managing phone calls emails and inperson inquiries.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Assist with scheduling patient appointments procedures and meetings ensuring effective coordination between patients and healthcare staff.
  • Documentation: Prepare and process medical forms reports and other documentation ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support Healthcare Staff: Provide administrative support to healthcare professionals including arranging meetings preparing materials and managing correspondence.
  • Adhere to Protocols: Follow organisational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including infection control practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Certificate or Diploma in Administration Medical Administration or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a hospital or aged care setting as a ward clerk or in a similar administrative role is preferred.
  • Vaccinations: Uptodate with annual flu and COVID19 vaccinations.
  • Work Rights: Must have full work rights in Australia.

  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing patient records documentation and administrative tasks.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients families and healthcare professionals.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using office software and healthcare management systems including electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling tools.
  • Customer Service: A professional and courteous approach to providing service and support to patients and healthcare staff.
  • ProblemSolving: Ability to identify and resolve issues promptly and effectively ensuring smooth ward operations.
  • Confidentiality: Strong understanding of privacy and confidentiality regulations in handling sensitive patient information.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
