Interiors Cost Reduction Engineer

The opportunity

Were currently looking for a Cost Reduction Engineer. Someone to join our Interiors Team in order to help us enhance the value proposition of our vehicle interiors. Someone with a passion for electric mobility an interest in technology and a desire to create the change we know is needed.

This position is located in Coventry hybrid remote. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work knowing that both inperson collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. The responsibilities

In this role youll be expected to work with many stakeholders in the Polestar team. Working as a member of the Product Cost Management (PCM) community youll be instrumental in identifying and delivering cost reduction ideas and opportunities. See below for a more thorough breakdown of the various tasks and areas youll be responsible for:

• Working to identify cost reduction ideas across all Polestar vehicle interiors. Develop clear change scopes engage with cross functional stakeholders (Purchasing Product Program Design and Engineering teams) to drive idea through Polestar PCM process to implementation.
• Collaborate with Polestar Industrialization partners (Volvo & Geely) and internal Polestar manufacturing sites.
• Work with suppliers to overcome challenges and enable nimble implementation of cost reduction ideas.
• Be prepared to take ownership to drive to implement cost reduction ideas and initiatives.
• Ensure that each step of the cost reduction idea is properly documented recorded and executed to Polestar standards with roadblocks and challenges identified and escalated.

The ideal candidate

In order to succeed in this role and at Polestar in general there are a few characteristics youll need to have. Tenacity. Flexibility. Curiosity. The ability to take the initiative to meet deadlines and requirements and to abandon ideas when theyre not feasible.

We are seeking an Engineer with Automotive Interiors experience has strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across multiple disciplines. Attitude is everything at Polestar and for this role we seek candidates with energy and enthusiasm to help us drive cost optimization activities across all our vehicles. Strong project management and presentation skills are paramount.

In addition youll need the following qualifications:

• Experience in cost reduction tracking and understanding of cost breakdowns (material process mark ups amortisation tooling and D&D profiles)
• 5 years in Automotive Industry or similar field.
• Experience with multiple vehicle interior systems and components
• Proven track record of project/program management skills
• Experience Microsoft Office / JIRA applications
