Job Description
This is a remote position.
All candidates will be interviewed in Spain (Madrid Barcelona or Malaga) inperson and all will have a screening interview in English as part of the hiring process. PLEASE do not apply if you are not already resident in Spain.
About Client / Your Mission:
Customers of the hiring company have asked them to open a new office in Spain. The Country Manager has been hired and will be involved in the hiring of the engineering team you will be engineer No 1 for Spain.
It means you will have experience excellent English skills and be able to work alone remotely from home and on site. You will not possess all the expertise and experience required training will be provided. You may need to go to the UK for a month travelling to/fro Spain as required. This helps with your integration into the wider engineering team and to help your understanding of your mission.
What will the job require
It will incorporate activities such as:
- WiFi site surveys and location installations depending on your experience some communication with colleagues and the client site to arrange and best undertake the work.
- Support desk tasks for clients across the installed and supported spectrum with full access to the tools you need to do the task. Where you lack experience on some tools training will be provided.
- Discussions on projects involvement with drawings installation schedules and a lot more.
- Networking usually on Cisco equipment networks some installations do vary so any gaps in your knowledge or experience will need to be filled with support from colleagues training inhouse or with the technology vendor.
- Agreeing schedules or timing of work with management generating and assisting with any reporting service desk ticket updating and the usual activities you will be aware of as a current networking engineer.
- Communicating with installation partners services providers vendors and others to ensure projects go well equipment arrives on site as expected and installations progress successfully to completion within the expected timeframes.
The rest you know you are already working with networks installing access points terminating cables and all those other necessary activities.
Please also understand there will be quite a bit of travel involved if you have a disability or a fear of flying please mention this at the screening interview. The person who is hired for this role will we all hope go on to take up more responsibilities as the Spain business unit grows.
Requirements
Your Qualifications your experience and tech touch points will include:
- Over 3 years working on networking admin and IP technology or engineering topics as a minimum (salary varies according to experience)
- Network Troubleshooting configuration mapping mirroring and some network security topics (CCNA preferred as CISSP or CCNP may be too qualified for this role)
- Knowledge of and actual work completed relating to Group Policy VMWare Active Directory and O365 in a networking context.
- Configuration or installation of any or all of the following tech brands: Aruba Cisco Cisco Meraki Dell HP Ruckus and similar.
- Technical trouble shooting and service desk support in English useful not 100% necessary if work is being done in Spanish only.
There will be a technical understanding interview by an engineer employed by the client company this person will also be open to answer any questions you have about the role or training to be provided.
It would be nice if you have experience of similar technologies such as Ekahau WiFi survey tool or a Cisco Meraki Dashboard or worked on projects configuring networks and designing them together with clients.
Musthave requirements:
- A valid Spanish drivers license
- Business proficiency in English reading writing spoken (likely to be B2 or above and all interviews and hiring communication will be in English).

In addition thought will be given to your work environment do you need support for a homeoffice or would it be better to pay a monthly subscription to hot desk at a local Regus or other serviced office space.
If you have a new car it may be better to get your costs reimbursed for work or you may need or prefer a car instead. We fully understand they are tools to enable you to work well.

You must possess good English language skills for communication with clients, suppliers and colleagues and B2 level in the European framework is a minimum. Strong Computer skills and/or a strong interest in IT are essential Willingness to consider in the future (subject to experience and skills) out of hours cover during weekends and holidays. Previous experience of Cisco, HP or similar technology use or support a real advantage. Ability to work under pressure and multitask Strong analytical skills Certification in IT, evidence of studies or a IT related University degree Customer focused empathises with customers and is able to deliver great customer service to required standards in a professional and polite manner Good listener and remains calm when dealing with problems or incidents Strong verbal communication skills, able to tailor communication so that it is clear and easy to understand Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work. PC literate - including a good level of knowledge of hardware and MS Windows / Microsoft Office, i.e. Print Setup and cloud working or collaboration An understanding of Networks, IT and Internet technologies as a user or employee working in this area. MS Excel spreadsheets, reports, data extraction a plus. Any prior working knowledge of any of the following: Cisco, Dell, HP, Aruba, Meraki, Ruckus, Server and PC configurations and products an advantage. An interest in any topic such as 5G, IoT, Robotics, the World Wide Web or internal knowledgebases is essential.
