Workshop Engineer

We are looking to hire a Workshop Engineer for one of our clients.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree (BSc Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university with 4 years of working experience or should have a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution with 5 years of working experience.
• Knowledge of Power generator installations and designs is an added advantage.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in the same field or metal structure fabrications.
• Possess good knowledge & experience of metal fabrications different welding methods and applications.
• Experience in workshop handling/supervising will be an added advantage.
• Experience working with large industrial power generation equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the Projects Workshop maintaining the workflow and the staff utilization ensuring installation projects are completed with compliance to engineering design and specifications and highest efficiency.
• Planning project execution to meet standards and deadlines ensuring the maximum possible number of jobs are done simultaneously without crashing.
• Support Project Engineers to achieve estimated profits from jobs.
  Visit sites to ensure installations meet standards designs and client expectations.
• Maintain workshop machines and tools ensuring minimum downtime forecasting and servicing and purchasing equipment according to requirements.
• Advise on material purchasing and estimation for jobs along with Project Engineers.
• Monitoring and controlling material utility of fabrications.
• Designing of components for special requirements of installations.
• Identified required staff training and developed the skills/ knowledge/ attitude of every subordinate.
• Forecast workshop consumables and ensure stores have a sufficient quantity of materials and required materials on time.
• Ensure continuous improvement of the workshop system where necessary.
• Overlooking/planning vehicle fleet maintenance to ensure they are available for work.

Skills:

• Exceptional communication skills to work with technical teams and customers directly.
• Proficient with estimating the time required to complete tasks.
• Communicating with clients managers and other technicians to ensure that projects are delivered effectively.
• Writing reports and presenting findings to managers and supervisors regularly.
• Knowledge of MS Office packages and ERP systems.
