Youth Worker

3 months contract with a North London based Local Authority.

Job Summary:

Setting up the Enfield Youth Election process this includes promoting the elections both online in schools and community spaces recruiting candidates organising workshops (public speaking and manifesto writing) for the candidates to attend) supporting candidates to create manifestos and videos as well as publicising them online in schools and through posters/billboards within the community.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Ensure the voice of young people is heard in relation to decision making concerning policy and service development enhancement and review.

Coordinate support and deliver our commitment to Enfield Youth Parliament (EYP) including representation on associated national groups including UK Youth Parliament and London Youth Assembly.

Work closely with other council departments to support Enfield s Young Mayor and Deputy Young Mayor.

Empower and encourage young people to participate in leadership academy programmes volunteer their time and become active citizens in Enfield.

Support young people to gain relevant skills to assess the quality of young people s services across the borough.

Enable young people to gain recognised skills and knowledge through their involvement in council led participation opportunities.

To work together with young people to tackle inequality and make sure all opportunities for young people are inclusive.

Essential Experience Required:

As a regular and intrinsic part of this role requires you to speak to members of the public in English the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential and consistent with the requirements of this role. This role also requires you to be polite and courteous when conversing with the public.

Demonstrable experience of positively engaging children and young people aged 1119 particularly young people who are vulnerable.

Demonstrable experience of empowering young people to speak up and have their voice heard in a meaningful manner.

Ability to coach and develop young people s interpersonal skills and confidence through training and youth support.

Ability to develop positive relationship of trust with young people who may have additional needs and considered at risk of harm.

Have good knowledge and experience of all aspects of youth work curriculum including participation and equality and diversity. Familiar with current legislation and Government policy related to young people and youth democratic services.

Experience of delivering one to one and group work interventions information advice and guidance for young people in a range of settings in response to their needs.

Essential Qualifications Required:

A qualification in Youth Work or equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or other relevant professional qualification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Child & Adult).

The post holder must be flexible and available to work during school hours evenings weekends and holiday periods.

The post holder will be required to travel in the community to fulfil their duties a valid driving licence will be advantageous for this role.
