Job summary:
A Machine Attendant operates and monitors machinery in a manufacturing setting ensuring smooth and efficient production. Responsibilities include starting stopping and adjusting machines performing routine maintenance troubleshooting issues and maintaining a clean work area. They must adhere to safety protocols and quality standards while documenting production data. Basic mechanical skills and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control
- Constantly examines finished products for defects and variations reports faults in machines and carries
- out quality control procedures.
- Ensure that all socks are knitted and meet the quality parameters set out by the company.
- Where the socks do not meet the parameters set by the company immediately inform the QC team and
- the machine operators.
- Responsible for feeding raw materials into the machines (placing yarn cones in the correct positions).
- Ensure that all feeders are working correctly.
- Bundle socks in to 24 pieces/12 pairs and always clearly indicate the relevant batch information on
- the dozen.
Machine Monitoring
- Will need to work quickly and monitor machines. This is done to ensure that all socks are checked in
- a timely manner (no back log) and ensure that no machines have stopped running.
- Where machines stop running quickly check to confirm why they have stopped running. If it has stopped due
- to raw materials quickly replace and run. Where the machine has a breakdown for any reason except
- raw materials quickly alert the machine operator.
- Remove any knitted waste stuck in the machine.
- Ensure there is no over/under production relative to production schedules.
- Where unsure of what to do in regards to machines always consult with the machine operators.
Records Management
- Update records clearly and on time to avoid any unnecessary production.
- Clearly set aside waste and seconds into the respective areas dedicated for these.
Requirements
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with great attention to detail.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience in the knitting industry is a plus point as a machine attendant/operator.
- Attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time (810 hours per day)
- Ability to read and write English.
- Good hand eye coordination.
Physical Demands
- The machine attendant is required to stand for long periods of time lift heavy machinery parts and
- operate machinery for extended periods of time.
- The job may require bending stooping and reaching to complete tasks.
- Noise level is medium to low due to knitting machines running.
A first degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or any relevant discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. ACCA/CPA. Knowledge of Stock Accounting/Inventory Management support especially for petroleum products, will be an added advantage.
